Real Betis are set to complete the signing of Markus Steinhofer from FC Basel, Spanish daily AS has revealed.
Los Verdiblancos have been searching for a new right-sided defender ever since the season ended and they seem to have finally found their man.
AS understands that Basel defender Markus Steinhofer has already passed a medical at Infanta Luisa de Triana clinic in Seville and is set to negotiate personal terms with Real Betis.
If nothing unexpected happens, the 27-year-old will be unveiled at Estadio Benito Villamarin in the coming days.
Markus Steinhofer began his professional career at Bayern Munich, but left the Bavarians for Eintracht Frankfurt without making a single appearance for the senior side.
The experienced defender didn’t enjoy too much success in Frankfurt, but has managed to kick-start his career at FC Basel, making 76 league appearances for the Swiss giants and winning three successive league titles.
