Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says a return to Champions League football with a top-four finish is the club’s main objective his season.
Speaking ahead of Spurs’ Europa League play-off against Hearts in Edinburgh on Thursday, Redknapp singled out Liverpool and Arsenal as his side’s main rivals in the fight for the fourth English Premier League Champions League place.
Tottenham tasted Champions League football for the first time last season, making it to the quarter-finals before bowing out to Real Madrid.
But Spurs failed to qualify for this year’s competition, with a fifth-placed finish in the English Premier League last season.
“The most important thing for me is the league – I want to try and get back in the Champions League,” Redknapp said.
“I can see a scrap between ourselves, Liverpool and Arsenal. If anybody told me Man United won’t be in the top four I think they’ll be dreaming.”
“We had that one year in the Champions League and we must not say that we’re a Champions League club and we’re used to seeing Champions League football, when this club’s never seen it.”
