(GSM) – Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is amazed at how his captain Ledley King has been able to keep a consistent, good form in the Premier League’s final weeks.

King has been troubled by a persistent knee injury in his career, an injury which has restricted his ability to train with the rest of the team. However, he has been able to play excellently and it is now likely that he will be included in Fabio Capello’s squad for South Africa.

“How a lad can not train but come out and play against top players as he has, I don’t know,” he said.

“It’s defied all logic, it’s amazing. If that’s the way to do it, we’re wasting our time coming into training every day – we might as well all just turn up on Saturday!

“He’s a freak really, how he can do that.”

“I would not want to crock him,” Redknapp said.

“It is important that if he has got a chance of going to the World Cup, I don’t finish him off.”

Redknapp was crowned as the best manager in the Premier League for the season, having led his team to fourth-place which will see them qualify for the Champions League. The 63-year-old recently stated that he is delighted with with his squad and would only be looking to add if he finds a ‘special’ player who can take Spurs to the next level.

On-loan players such as Robbie Keane and Jamie O’Hara are also set to return in the summer to add to the depth of the squad.
