QPR boss Harry Redknapp has expressed a desire to bring in several new signings in the January transfer window, but admits it will be tough.
A lacklustre showing in Sunday’s goalless stalemate with fellow Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace at Loftus Road left Redknapp claiming that limited attacking options hampered his side.
And he has confirmed that he will be looking to bring in up to three new players on loan in the upcoming transfer window, but conceded that it will be difficult to add the quality required to keep the club in the top flight.
He said: “We need another two or three players actually – on loan – but who’s going to loan you a good player at this time of year?
“All the teams in the bottom half, they won’t, and all the teams in the top half – they’re in Europe or trying to get into Europe – they’re not going to loan you top players so it’s difficult.”
QPR top scorer Charlie Austin has netted 12 goals so far in 2014-15, but, along with Bobby Zamora, he is the only recognised forward at the club, although Eduardo Vargas has deputised in a central role.
But Redknapp insisted that he is not frustrated at having to potentially recruit players on a temporary basis, and cited the sale of Loic Remy to Chelsea as another factor for his side’s struggles in front of goal.
“It’s what we are, it’s where we are,” he added.
“We bought some players at the end of the summer but we lost Remy on the deadline, and that really cost us because he’d have had eight or 10 goals by now.
“Maybe he’ll come back, he’s not getting a game at Chelsea, perhaps they’ll loan him back here – but I don’t think they will.”
