Redknapp proud of ´outstanding´ Spurs

Harry Redknapp was impressed by the composure of his Tottenham team following their 3-1 win at home to Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

Spurs led by half-time in the English Premier League match at White Hart Lane, thanks to goals from Wales winger Gareth Bale and Netherlands international Rafael van der Vaart.

QPR pulled one back through Jay Bothroyd just past the hour mark.

According to manager Redknapp, his players coped well with conceding, and they went on to claim a decisive third goal, when Bale netted again with 18 minutes remaining.

“It was a fantastic performance,” Redknapp said.

“In the first half we played some great football and moved the ball quickly. The movement and passing was incredible.”

“Suddenly they got a lifeline at 2-1 and it changes games so that third goal was important.”

“I said at half-time we shouldn’t relax in the second half but, to be fair to them, they came out and raised their game.”

“They changed how they played, got it forward and played with more intensity in the second half but Gareth finished them off with a great goal.”

“Overall we were outstanding today.”

Despite falling short in north London, QPR boss Neil Warnock was pleased with the effort shown by his players as they attempted to force their way back into contention.

“We gave them a game in the second half,” Warnock told Sky Sports.

“(At half-time) we said ‘let’s try to get the next goal’.”

“We probably respected them a bit too much in the first half.”

“It was nice to see them get a bit fidgety on the bench at 2-1.”

Spurs are fifth on the Premier League table, level on points with Chelsea and Newcastle, who are third and fourth respectively.

QPR are 12th, sixth points clear of the relegation zone.
