Reja, Guidolin satisfied with stalemate

Lazio manager Edy Reja was pleased with his side’s display after they drew 2-2 with Udinese on Sunday.

Reja’s men trailed to an early goal from Antonio Floro Flores but managed to hit the front early in the second half through strikes from Senad Lulic and a Damiano Ferronetti own goal.

And although Giampiero Pinzi bagged a late equaliser for Udinese, Reja was still happy at his side’s performance.

“I liked our performance a lot,” Reja said.

“In the second half we managed to play our game. They scored two goals with three shots on goal, while we created more.”

“We attacked very well, I chose players who could run and with strong physical qualities, because that was the only way we could play Udinese.”

Udinese manager Francesco Guidolin was also happy with a point, especially with his side facing table-toppers Juventus on Wednesday.

That forced Guidolin into some squad rotation with such a short turnaround between matches, which meant he was pleased with his side’s ability to extend their unbeaten run, which extended to six in all competitions.

“Obviously I was sorry to leave (Antonio) Di Natale on the bench today as I was sorry to leave (Pablo) Armero out,” Guidolin said.

“But I had to do it because we have another great challenge on Wednesday.”
