Lazio boss Edy Reja was delighted with the efforts of his men after their 2-0 Serie A win over AC Milan on Wednesday.
Milan could have moved top of the table with a win at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico, but late goals from Hernanes and Tommaso Rocchi gave Lazio victory.
The result moved Lazio just five points behind leaders Juventus in the race for the Scudetto, and Reja was thrilled to emerge with the three points.
“This was a match against a direct rival and we won it, so my compliments to the team,” Reja said. “They’ve being doing extraordinary things.”
“I think we should build these guys a monument, because they’re finding a lot of energy and they’re being very intelligent from a tactical point of view.”
“We had to close down the spaces and stop Milan’s midfielders from pushing forward. We played a good game and didn’t allow much at the back. I am very satisfied with the lads, who showed great determination in an emergency situation.”
“They are understanding and interpreting the way matches are being played. They’re good, there’s nothing else to say – they’re good.”
