Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has revealed his interest in bringing Marseille forward Loic Remy to White Hart Lane.

The 25-year-old has bagged seven goals in 18 appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season, while also scoring twice in the group stages of the Champions League.

Redknapp only has three strikers in his squad – on-loan Manchester City man Emmanuel Adebayor, Jermain Defoe and out-of-favour Roman Pavlyuchenko – and is contemplating a move for France international Remy.

“He’s a good player,” Redknapp said. “He’s a player we like and there’s interest there.”

“We could have had him a couple of years ago, to be honest with you.”

“He has pushed on. He was a player we looked at and I watched him a couple of times at that stage, but he went to Marseille.”

“There is interest there. But that is as far. At the moment, there is nothing more than that.”

Remy started off his career at Ligue 1 giants Lyon, and was close to moving to Stoke City shortly before completing a big-money move to Marseille.

Spurs have been linked to a host of players already this month as they seek to maintain their push for the Premier League title.

Newcastle United striker Demba Ba is one of the players Redknapp is eager to bring to White Hart Lane.

“I keep hearing conflicting stories about the buyout clause,” Redknapp said of Ba’s contract with Newcastle.

“One person says one thing and somebody comes on and says he can be bought out for X amount.”

“I think the only people that probably know are Newcastle and Demba Ba.”
