Reo-Coker slams Bellamy

Bolton’s Nigel Reo-Coker said he has ‘no respect’ for Craig Bellamy after the pair clashed at half-time in the Trotters 3-1 win over Liverpool.

Bellamy grabbed the Reds’ solitary goal as strikes from Mark Davies, Reo-Coker and Gretar Steinsson secured victory for the hosts.

Reo-Coker said the Welshman “can do what he wants” after what looked a heated exchanged at the interval.

Reo-Coker told ESPN: “Craig Bellamy is Craig Bellamy; I have no respect for him so he can do what he wants to do.”

The midfielder also outlined the importance of his side being able to build on the fine form that has failed to reap any real rewards until the win over Kenny Dalglish’s side, claiming a new formation and belief at Bolton is starting to show.

“If you look at our past performances we are playing really well, we’ve got a new formation going and there’s a lot more confidence in the team,” Reo-Cocker said.

“The past games we’ve had we have been unlucky with the results but performance-wise, as a team, we have been getting better and have been growing, and it’s about building on that.”

“In our situation it is important to get a win home or away, so to get it at home it is even better, but again it has been a fantastic team performance today and it’s what we have been doing over the past couple of weeks, so we must try and keep the momentum going.”

“We had a tough start to the season and we have finally picked ourselves up, and it’s important for us to go and climb up that league and get a true reflection of where we should be in the league.”

French striker David Ngog made his first appearance against his former club and the 22-year-old said that although he would have liked to have scored, winning the game was more important, claiming an early goal from Mark Davies set the side in good stead.

“It is always special when you play against your old team and I wanted to score a goal but I think the thing that is more important is to win,” the former Liverpool striker said.

“When you get a goal early it is easier to go into the game with more confidence, and I think we kept resolute at the end of the game, and it’s very good.”
