Ridgewell urges West Brom to forget past

Liam Ridgewell has urged his West Brom team-mates to put Wednesday’s 3-1 Premier League defeat to Swansea City behind them.

The Baggies have won eight, lost four and drawn two of their 14 Premier League games so far this campaign and sit fourth in the table after their defeat at the Liberty Stadium.

Ridgewell, who arrived at the Hawthorns from Birmingham City in January 2012, believes that the squad have the quality to put things right against Stoke City on Saturday.

“We’ve done so well, so we can’t think we’re a bad team overnight,” he told the club’s official website.

“We’re not, we’re a good side and hopefully we can show it on Saturday.

“Swansea played very well but in the second half we were a lot better and hopefully we can take that second-half display into Saturday.”

With Stoke on the horizon, the 28-year-old has praised Stoke, who have now stayed in the top flight for six consecutive years and he is targeting similar longevity at the Hawthorns.

“Stoke, Fulham, that is where we have to get ourselves,” Ridgewell said.

“We look to those types of teams to make sure we can do the same and remain in the Premier League. We’ve done it for the last two years, hopefully we can do it for a third, build on it and take the club where it should be.

“They know how to get 38 points every season and who cares how they get it, as long as they get it and stay in the Premier League, that is the main objective.

“Everyone has been used to their style and we will be up for it, raring to go.”
