Brazil legend Rivaldo has been linked with a move to Angolan Girabola outfit Kabuscorp.
Club president Bento Kangamba told A Bola that he is closing in on the veteran forward – winner of the FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d’Or in 1999 – and could announce a deal shortly.
“Every club in Angola is strengthening, we could not fall behind,” Kangamba said. “The opportunity for us to sign Rivaldo came up and we are committed to making this happen.”
Kangamba said while the former Barcelona and AC Milan player was 39, he still believes he has the ability to add quality to Kabuscorp, who finished second in the 2011 season.
Rivaldo made 55 appearances for Brazilian Serie A club Sao Paulo in 2011, scoring six goals. He was sent off in his final match for the club, in November.
“People talk about his age a lot, but a player with his quality and experience still has a lot to give to football, and hopefully Angola,” Kangamba said.
Kangamba said he hoped to announce a deal for Rivaldo on Friday.
