Fiorentina have announced that Delio Rossi has been installed as the club’s new coach, replacing the sacked Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Mihajlovic – who joined the Florence-based club in June 2012 – was relieved of his position following the club’s disappointing start to the season.

Fiorentina sit 13th in the Serie A standings with 12 points from 10 games, and Mihajlovic revealed earlier on Monday he was unsure of his future at the club.

“Sinisa Mihajlovic did his job with dedication and professionalism,” a Fiorentina statement read. “We want to thank him and wish him the best so that this career can continue with increasing satisfaction and success.”

“A special thanks to the technical staff who assisted him.”

Rossi, 51, has been out of work since leaving Palermo in June after his relationship with club president Maurizio Zamparini soured.

He has signed a contract with Fiorentina until June 2013 and will lead his new side against AC Milan on November 19, when the Serie A resumes.
