Lille striker Nolan Roux has dismissed suggestions that he could be selected in France’s FIFA World Cup squad.
The 25-year-old has scored six goals for Rene Girard’s high-flying side this term, finding the net in notable wins over Nantes, Monaco and Marseille.
However, Roux is not thinking about the possibility of representing France in Brazil next year.
“At the moment I have scored six goals,” said the former France Under-21 international.
“I need 20 by the end of the season. Afterwards you never know (about the World Cup). But this is not a priority for me.
“I do not tell myself that I must be in the World Cup squad because I must remain modest.
“First of all I want a good season, scoring more than 10 goals.
“And then if there is an outbreak of illness (in the France squad), why not?”
