Borussia Dortmund duo Mario Goetze and Sebastian Kehl have urged former team-mate Nuri Sahin not to pursue a transfer away from Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old left Dortmund for the La Liga club in time for the 2011/12 season but has seen limited action after returning from injury.
Bundesliga champions Dortmund are reportedly interested in re-signing their former prodigy, but two of their most influential voices have spoken out and advised the player to stay in Madrid.
“If I may give Nuri this advice, he should not get the idea to leave Real Madrid after half a year,” Dortmund captain Kehl told Kicker.
“If Nuri is used in all competitions in the second half of the season, this question (whether he can impose himself) will no longer be asked.”
Goetze also backed Sahin, but said he would not be disappointed if the Turkey international were to return to the Westfalenstadion.
“I’m still convinced that he will seize his chances with Real Madrid. But if not, I suppose it would be logical for me to be glad. With Nuri we became champions and he is my friend,” he said.
Sahin spent most of the first half of the campaign sidelined due to a knee injury, but has made just one La Liga appearance this season.
He has, however, had starts in both the Copa del Rey and Champions League for Real.
