With the chance to leapfrog Lyon in the Ligue 1 table, high flying Saint Etienne will welcome Marseille to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Wednesday night.

Starting with Wednesday’s hosts, coming off the back of another very impressive showing in their 1-0 win over Guingamp last weekend, Jean-Louis Gasset’s side have now won their last three matches on the bounce. Firmly on route to secure a return to the Champions League this season, it has been the hosts recent defensive stability most impressing Gasset. Les Verts have now gone over 300 minutes without conceding a goal in return. The Greens will also be boosted by what is becoming a stellar record at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. Saint Etienne have now won their last four home matches and are yet to be beaten on home soil this year.

As for the visitors, while Saint Etienne might be enjoying their brightest spell of the season, the same can not be said for Marseille. With the pressure really starting to pile up on Rudi Garcia, his side are coming off the back of a 1-1 draw with strugglers Monaco and have now failed to win any of their last eight matches across all competitions. Crashing out of the Coupe de la Ligue last month and now freefalling down to ninth in the Ligue 1 table, the visitors have also failed to win an away match since the end of November.
