Bayern Munich have no plans to sign David Luiz, according to club director Matthias Sammer.
The Bundesliga champions have been linked with a move for the Chelsea defender as they look to defend their domestic title as well as their UEFA Champions League and DFB Pokal trophies.
However, Sammer says the Brazilian is not on manager Pep Guardiola’s radar, despite ongoing injury worries over Holger Badstuber.
Instead, he says the club will take the opportunity to blood recent signing Jan Kirchhoff into the first team.
“We are not going to sign a new defender since we have already signed a defender this summer in Jan Kirchhoff,” he said.
“The decision not to sign a further defender is clearly to be seen as giving a fair chance to Jan.”
Kirchhoff, 22, moved to the Allianz Arena from Mainz on a free transfer, having signed a pre-contract agreement to move in January.
