Mathias Sammer says Athletic Bilbao must make the next move as Bayern Munich attempt to complete the transfer of Javi Martinez.
Bayern have confirmed that they are willing to bid 40 million euros for the midfielder, but talks have reportedly come to a halt, with Bilbao’s seemingly determined to keep hold of one of their prize assets.
“There is nothing to report at the moment, we must digest a few things but the move for Martinez is down to Bilbao,” Sammer told Sky Sports.
“The transfer is nowhere near being completed, we made our position clear and Bilbao must now react.”
Martinez, 23, has made over 200 league appearances for Athletic since making his debut in 2006, and was part of the Spain squads which triumphed at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2012.
