Santos do not have the funds to lure Milan striker Robinho back to Brazil, club vice-president Odilio Rodrigues has admitted.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a return to the club at which he started his career, but the Sao Paulo outfit are unable to meet the Italian club’s demands.
That situation is unlikely to change, and Rodrigues revealed that his does not expect the move to materialise.
He told Gazeta: “The values demanded by the Milan representative that talked with us are too high, both regarding the transfer fee and Robinho’s salary.”
It had been mooted that Santos would try and tempt the San Siro club by sending one of their current crop the other way, but Rodrigues was quick to dismiss those rumours.
He added: “Milan have no interest for any Santos player.”
Robinho made 27 appearances for Milan last season, scoring two goals.
