Schalke are prepared to offer star striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar a new three-year deal worth €8 million per season, according to Bild.
The Miners are desperate to keep hold of their star player after Raul Gonzalez left Veltins Arena at the end of last season.
The Dutch forward is prepared to remain at Schalke, but only if the club reinforce the squad over the summer with several high-profile signings.
Huntelaar has just a year left on his deal at Veltins Arena, but Bild understands the club chiefs are readying new mega offer in order to persuade the player to stay in Gelsenkirchen.
According to the report, Schalke are set to offer the player a new three-year deal worth €8 million per season, which would make him one of the highest paid players in Bundesliga.
Given that the 28-year-old has scored 29 goals in 32 Bundesliga appearances last season, it is hardly surprising the club chiefs are doing everything they can to ward off potential suitors.
