Atalanta’s Ezequiel Schelotto hopes he is called up by Italy coach Cesare Prandelli for forthcoming friendlies against Poland and Uruguay.
The 22-year-old midfielder has attracted attention and reports have suggested Prandelli could consider his participation.
Schelotto admits he has always dreamed about playing for the Azzurri, and despite his Argentine roots, he has full Italian citizenship and has played for Italy at Under-21 level.
“Italy? For me it would be a dream as it has been an objective I have always wanted to achieve,” Schelotto said.
“However, before the call-ups, I have the game against Cagliari to think about. For now I just want to do well for Atalanta, then there is plenty of time for everything else.”
Atalanta welcome Cagliari in Serie A on Sunday hoping to improve on last week’s 3-1 loss at Bologna.
