Shaqiri’s agent hints at Bayern move

The agent of Basel midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri claims that his client is set to leave the Swiss giants in the summer.

The 20-year-old playmaker was expected to leave Basel in January, but his move to Galatsaray eventually fell through.

Shaqiri is now tracked by a number of high-profile sides and everything suggests he will leave the club at the end of the season.

The player’s representative has now revealed that Shaqiri could join Bayern Munich in the summer.

“Bayern would be the best solution for Xherdan”, Erdin Shaqiri told Swiss newspaper Basler Zeitung.

“He will change teams in the summer. He’s been in Switzerland for four years and he needs to play in a more competitive league to grow.”

The diminutive midfielder started his professional career at Basel and this is his third season as a first team regular at St Jakob Park.

The player caught the attention of big European clubs with his scintillating performances at Under-21 European Championship in Denmark.

The 20-year-old already has 17 senior caps for the national team and is already considered a first team regular in Otmar Hitzfeld’s squad.

Shaqiri is seen as one of the most exciting prospects in Europe and is set to be given a chance to prove his worth at the biggest stage.
