AC Milan defender Thiago Silva said his side are hungry, ahead of their home Serie A blockbuster with Juventus on Saturday.
The Brazil international Silva conceded that the reigning champions had some motivational problems at the start of the 2011-12 campaign, but he was adamant that they have now regained their determination to win trophies.
“We lacked the real hunger for success. We no longer had the same willingness to win that we possessed before. This hunger for success is what makes the difference for a team with our qualities,” Silva said to Il Corriere dello Sport.
“It happened after the Supercoppa Italiana. The league started and we were no longer the same. We seemed to be thinking that we could easily win another Scudetto. Football isn’t like that, though. Things can change very rapidly. Right now, last year’s feeling is back, and we’re hungry for more titles.”
Milan sit top of the Serie A table with a one-point lead over Juventus, but the latter have a game in hand.
