Skrtel possibly back by Christmas

Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel might recover from his knee injury a lot faster than initially feared. Full recovery by Christmas is a realistic option, a scan pointed out on Tuesday.

Skrtel injured his knee during Liverpool’s Premiership clash with Manchester City, and early reports mentioned a possible absence of up to six months, as result of a damaged crucial ligament.

But a Liverpool spokesman now revealed that although the ligament is indeed damaged, Skrtel doesn’t need surgery. This drastically reduces the expected recovery time.

The injury does come at a bad moment for Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, who recently succeeded in forming a solid defense with Skrtel and Carragher as key pillars.
