Spain is considering to join the race for the hosting of the 2008 World Cup. This was revealed by the country’s FA president in an interview with Radio Marca.

Angel Maria villar, chairman of the RFEF, told the radio station that the association would like to research whether hosting the tournament would be possible, and added that “there is a chance that we will submit our candidacy”.

If Spain choose to do so, they face some serious competition with nations as England, Russia, the Netherlands & Belgium, the United States and Australia considering a bid as well.

The 2018 tournament is likely to be held in Europe, North America, Asia or Australia. Africa is represented with South Africa in 2010, while South America have Brazil as hosts in 2014.
