Sporting Kansas City manager Peter Vermes is anticipating a stern test from LA Galaxy when the two sides meet in the MLS on Saturday.
Sporting lead the Western Conference with four wins from as many matches after a 1-0 success against Chivas USA on Sunday continued their superb start to the season.
But Vermes knows extending that winning streak will not be easy against the reigning MLS champions.
“It’s good to be 4-0, it’s better than 0-4 that’s for sure, but for us it’s about maintaining the idea that we have 30 games left,” Vermes said.
“We have to play LA next week and we know they’re a good team, they’ll have a lot of their guns back and we have to get ready for that game.
“We know it’s not going to be an easy game for us, they’re the champions of the league.
“We have the utmost respect for them and how they play and we’re just really going to have to really, really concentrate this week and know that we’re ready to play them and be attentive for 90 minutes.”
Sporting forward C.J. Sapong, who has scored three goals already this season, knows his side have not reached their potential, but feels that winning games while they are not at their best is positive for the club.
“It feels amazing, we probably haven’t played to our fullest potential yet but we’re still grinding out those wins and that’s a good sign,” Sapong said.
“Hopefully we’ll just keep riding that, and by the middle of the season be playing our best soccer.”
