Sunderland are planning to sign Reinildo Mandava in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun. Mandava is out of contract at Atletico Madrid this summer, and Sunderland, who will play in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship, are keen on snapping him up on a free transfer.
The Black Cats are said to be in advanced talks with Mandava, who is expected to sign a two-year contract with the English club. Leeds United are interested in the 31-year-old left-back, while Atletico Madrid have also held talks, but it is Sunderland who appear to have won the race for the signature of the Mozambique international defender.
Mandava joined Atletico in 2022. The 31-year-old has scored two goals and registered one assist in 103 appearances for the Spanish club since then. Sunderland’s main objective next season will be to stay in the Premier League.
