Sunderland join race for Bundesliga goal machine

Sunderland have joined the race for Freiburg striker Papiss Demba Cisse, the Daily Mail reports.

The 26-year-old striker has a long list of admirers following some scintillating performances for Freiburg during last season.

The Senegal international scored no less than 22 Bundesliga goals last term and has already bagged two in as many games this season.

Freiburg are willing to cash in on their most prized asset, but only if a club offer £12.5 million.

Blackburn were prepared to offer £6 million for the striker earlier this summer but were then quoted the aforementioned asking price.

Sunderland are the latest club to have been linked with the 26-year-old as Steve Bruce looks to add another striker to the squad.
