Susic favours attacking approach

Safet Susic has hinted Bosnia-Herzegovina may fight fire with fire when they begin their FIFA World Cup Group F campaign versus Argentina.

The South American giants head into Sunday’s contest as one of the favourites to lift football’s most prestigious prize.

However, it would be remiss to look too far ahead of the clash with Bosnia, whose free-flowing style in qualification caught the eye as they racked up 30 goals.

Head coach Susic’s selections in the warm-up games – he has foregone his usual two strikers for an extra midfielder – suggested a change in philosophy.

Yet that does not appear to be the case, with Susic saying he has no plans to man-mark Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.

“It is a dilemma for me, but to sacrifice a player just to man-mark Messi, I don’t think it would be good for us,” said Susic.

“I don’t think we have ever played a match having dedicated a player to man-mark a specific opponent, and it’s going to be the same.”

Bosnia, also been drawn alongside Nigeria and Iran, appear to have a clean bill of health with Sejad Salihovic’s absence from training merely a precaution.

“It’s nothing serious. He should train at Maracana and I hope he will play against Argentina,” said Susic.
