Police claim they have enough evidence to charge John Terry over his alleged racist remarks to Anton Ferdinand.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, six of Chelsea’s senior players and Ferdinand have been providing evidence which will be included in a report to be sent to the Crown Prosecution Service, who will ultimately decide Terry’s fate.

Terry has denied that he made any racist comments towards the QPR player and Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has also come out in support of his skipper.

The FA are also holding an investigation into the incident but have delayed their verdict until the conclusion of the criminal enquiry.

Terry led England out against Sweden on Tuesday despite the potential distraction and insisted that he would not quit his international or club role despite the ongoing issue.

A criminal conviction would almost certainly see Terry lose the captain’s armband at both club and international level and could also result in a large fine or ban.
