Tevez talks up title chances

Carlos Tevez says Manchester City can still win the English Premier League title following their 6-1 win against Norwich City on Saturday.

The Argentina international scored a hat-trick in City’s convincing away victory at Carrow Road, although they continue to trail league leaders United by five points.

Speaking afterwards, Tevez thanked manager Roberto Mancini for giving him a second chance after he went on strike for four months of the season.

“Of course we can still win the title,” Tevez told City TV.

“Obviously we have to put pressure on United.

“We just need to continue to play the way we are and we will arrive at the top. Mathematically it’s not impossible.”

Tevez fell out with Mancini after refusing to warm up during City’s Champions League match away to Bayern Munich in September.

He returned from exile in February to apologise for his actions six appearances for the team, including two starts in the last two matches.

“I am very happy that I played very well (against Norwich), but the most important thing is that I want to say thank you to my colleagues for all the support they have given me since I arrived,” he said.

“It wasn’t easy coming back to training and to play but they have given me a lot of support and the technical staff have been very good to me too.

“I really appreciate everyone’s help.”

Tevez should be grateful that he has raw talent to rely on but this might not save him in future if he decides to misbehave again.

Nevertheless, it’s good to see him back in action after such a long break. All credit should go to Mancini and his team for welcoming Tevex back although they should be careful not to give him any special treatment.
