Tottenham join chase for Gomis

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a January swoop for Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis, according to Metro.

With new boss Tim Sherwood a fan of the 4-4-2 formation but short of attacking options, he is expected to address the issue in January.

Metro has suggested that Spurs are hoping to sign French striker Bafetimbi Gomis from Lyon.

Given that his contract at Stade Gerland is due to expire in June 2014, the 28-year-old plans to quit les Gones at the earliest opportunity and is likely to be available for a nominal fee in January.

Having scored at least ten goals in seven successive Ligue 1 campaigns, Bafetimbo Gomis has notched 7 goals in 14 league outings this season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham suffered another slip-up in the league as they could only muster a 1-1 draw against West Brom on Boxing Day, but Spurs are 4/9 to return to winning ways against Stoke.
