Tunisia naive at set pieces

Tunisia national team coach Sami Trabelsi had mixed feelings about the 1-1 draw with Peru on Wednesday.

Trabelsi was pleased with some aspects of the international friendly but was disappointed with how a momentary loss of concentration resulted in them conceding a penalty kick off a Peruvian throw-in.

“We’re still naive in how we concede goals. We don’t concede during the run of play but on dead balls. It’s not the first time. In the future we’re going to work on fixing this,” he said on Mosaique FM.

The former CS Sfaxien player also said he wanted to see more goalscoring chances created.

In terms of positives, Trabelsi said the passing in the midfield and ball conservation had improved.

Meanwhile, the coach said that he thought Anis Ben Hatira’s first outing with the north Africans was good and that he hoped the best was yet to come for the German-born 23-year-old.

“I knew Anis’ abilities from before. He had some personal problems that prevented him from playing with his club but he’s a talented player,” Trabelsi said.

“He was easily integrated into the squad and all the players accepted him. Hopefully in the future he’ll play more at club level and will be able to give us something extra.”
