Really hoping to bounce back from that lacklustre display over the weekend, England will face off against the Czech Republic at Wembley on Tuesday night.
Starting with the Czech Republic, while Jaroslav Šilhavý’s side might have eventually picked up a 1-1 draw against 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia over the weekend, The Reds would have felt they deserved to leave with more. Putting in another eye-catching display in Glasgow, The Czech’s sit in pole position to secure an automatic route out of Group D. Building off of that deserved 2-0 victory when they faced off against Scotland in their opening European matchup earlier in the month, they also have one attacking talisman who has enjoyed a stellar start to this summer’s tournament. Converting from the spot as they picked up a point against The Blazers last time out, Patrik Schick has already recorded three goals in his two Group D outings, including that stunning brace against The Scots on June 14th.
As for England, while they might also find themselves within touching distance of booking their spot in the knockout stage, Gareth Southgate’s men put in what was a hugely lacklustre display at Wembley. Despite being tipped as a landslide pick to claim British bragging rights against Scotland on Saturday night, The Whites had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate on home soil and a performance that raised plenty of eyebrows. Lucky to extend on their unbeaten run over the weekend and failing to build off of that 1-0 win against Croatia in their opening Group D matchup, Southgate will have a headache over his side’s extended issues in the final third. Failing to lay down much of a marker with their back-to-back 1-0 friendly wins against Austria and Bulgaria earlier in the month, we’re backing what could be another low-scoring affair in the capital this week.
