Robin van Persie has officially completed his move to Manchester United on a four-year deal.

The Dutchman completed his medical at Bridgewater Hospital on Friday and signed off on personal terms, tying him to the club until the end of the 2015/16 season.

Van Persie, who scored 30 Premier League goals last season on his way to the Professional Footballers Association and Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year awards, is in contention to play against Everton on Monday.

And the 29-year-old striker expressed his delight at moving to Old Trafford.

“It’s an honour to sign for Manchester United,” van Persie said.

“I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of so many great strikers, bringing my experience and playing my part to help the team compete for the biggest trophies in the game.

“I can’t wait to get started.”

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, meanwhile, was happy to add a striker of Van Persie’s quality to his ranks.

“Robin is a world-class striker with a proven record in England and in European football,” he said.

“His talents need no introduction to our fans – he has scored a number of goals against us in some classic battles with his former club.

“His movement, finishing and all-round ability are outstanding.”
