United to fight Real for Pogba

Manchester United are ready to do battle with Real Madrid over the services of Paul Pogba, according to AS.

The French midfielder’s contract with the Premier League side expires at the end of the season, and he recently said he wouldn’t be rushing to decide whether to renew his commitment or to move on. Mino Raiola, his representative, has apparently told United to wait until April 2022. Real are said to be monitoring the situation closely, with president Florentino Perez aiming to make Pogba one of his ‘Galacticos’ as he draws up plans for another era of superstars at the club.

However, the 20-time English champions are ready to do whatever it takes to keep hold of Pogba as they, like Real, aim to return to the paths of former glory. They’ve shown great ambition by re-signing former Real star Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as centre-back Raphael Varane, this summer, and that has reportedly got Pogba, who had previously been closer to leaving, to reconsider his position and leave the option of staying at Old Trafford open.
