Vagner Love deal in balance

Flamengo are growing frustrated with CSKA Moscow’s refusal to compromise over the sale of Vagner Love, and have set a deadline for the deal.

Brazilian Serie A club’s offer of 6.3 million euros to be paid over 60 months was turned down by the Moscow-based Russian Premier League outfit, with CSKA determined to receive their asking price of 10.2 million euros for the striker.

Irritated by CSKA’s approach, Flamengo director Michel Levy left it clear that if an agreement could not be reached by Tuesday, the deal would be dead in the water.

“No chance. Flamengo are not going to increase their proposal and they are unwilling to come down,” he told Lance.

“We can only offer what is within our reach. If they do not accept, we will walk away from the deal.”

Love’s agent Evandro Ferreira, meanwhile, asserted that the striker could be forced to stay away from the Russian club in order to reach a sale.

“We are trying to attract further investment to help, but at the moment everything is stalled. The only thing Vagner can do to help Flamengo is to say he will not go back,” he said.

“We are still waiting CSKA’s response.”

The 27-year-old moved to CSKA in 2004, and has hit over 100 goals in all competitions.

He enjoyed a successful spell at Flamengo in 2010, scoring 23 goals in 29 appearances for the Rio de Janeiro-based club.
