AC Milan midfielder Mark van Bommel is considering the possibility of extending his stay with at the San Siro, his agent Mino Raiola his declared.

The 34-year-old’s future in Milan has been cast into doubt as his contract with the club expires at the end of the season.

Milan have already indicated they will only handle contract renewals in the off-season, and Van Bommel’s agent has given a strong indication that his client’s priority is to remain with the Serie A leaders.

“If Milan offer him a new deal, and that seems to be the case, Mark could stay in Italy,” Raiola told Eindhovens Dagblad.

“But if an agreement is not reached, Mark will announce his intention to return to Netherlands, where PSV will be his first choice, regardless of whether they compete in the Champions League.”

Van Bommel, who joined Milan in January 2011 after terminating his contract with Bayern Munich, helped Massimiliano Allegri’s side win the Serie A crown in his first season at the club.
