Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has signed a two-year-contract with Hull City.

Because the Dutch striker was transfer free he was allowed to join a new club after the transfer window as closed.

It didn’t took Vennegoor long to choose for Hull, after the transfer deadline. The 30-year-old always said that he wanted to continue his career in Britain after his contract with Celtic ended this summer.

The Flying Dutchman played three seasons for The Bhoys. In his first two seasons he scored thirteen and fifteen goals but last season he only found the back of the net six times.

During the final part of the transfer window, that closed on Tuesday, the Dutch international trained with his first club FC Twente.

In August Vennegoor stated that he was also open for a return to a Dutch side, preferably to his former club PSV Eindhoven.

He now joins The Tigers, to compete with Jozy Altidore and Daniel Cousin for a place in Hull`s attack.
