Warnock thrilled with new signings

Queens Park Rangers boss Neil Warnock has lavished praise on his newcomers after his team posted a 3-0 thumping of Wolves at Molineux.

Joey Barton and Alejandro Faurlin gave Wolves a nightmare start from which they never really recovered and DJ Campbell added a third late in the game.

Warnock was delighted with the win, hailing it as ‘possibly as complete a performance as I’m going to get away from home’ and was quick to single out his new additions for special praise.

“To get a goal early doors was good and it was followed up quickly by a great second goal. We were unlucky not to score a few more really,” Warnock said.

“We played very, very well today but we did against Newcastle, without scoring a goal. So we’ve just got to maintain the level ourselves. I think we were better on the day.”

“Since they’ve all come in, these new lads, training has gone up 30-40 percent quality and I think you could see that today; even my old lads were spot on.”

“I don’t think there is a better right-back in the country than Luke Young, but I am biased.”

“I think (Anton) Ferdinand’s as good as anyone in the country when he plays like he does. (Armand) Traore too, I don’t see many better left-backs.”

“I look at Joey Barton and if Joey didn’t have other things about him, he would probably be in one of the top-four clubs.”

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy, meanwhile, said his side’s performance was their worst for the season.

“We didn’t get going from the first whistle,” McCarthy said.

“It’s not like us, why that is, goodness knows at the moment, I can’t put my finger on it.”

“They played well but they were aided by a poor performance by all of us. We played well last week; we’ve had four excellent performances up until today. But that was as bad as we have been.”

“The goals that we conceded were really poor. Today was one of those games, the pressure was on to play well and to win against one of the promoted teams.”
