Which England internationals could be heading for the Manchester United exit this summer?

While Manchester United might be set to announce the arrival of Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana in a deal worth £47.2million, many are focused on that first-team stars that could be heading in the opposite direction this summer.

Although attacking talisman Marcus Rashford might have put pen to paper on a bumper new five-year deal on Tuesday morning, it appears that a number of his international teammates could be heading for the Old Trafford exit.

With only six weeks left before the summer transfer window slams shut on September 1st, we have taken a look at the Three Lions stars that have been linked with a move away from the red half of Manchester this summer.

Harry Maguire

Taking to social media earlier in the week and announcing that he has been stripped of Manchester United’s captain’s armband, it appears that the writing is on the wall when it comes to Harry Maguire’s long-term future at Old Trafford.

Maguire was appointed skipper by Ten Hag’s predecessor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January 2020 – five months after signing for £80million from Leicester in what was a record-breaking deal at the time.

Free-falling down ten Hag’s defensive pecking order last season and clearly not part of the former Ajax bosses’ plans going forward, it has been heavily suggested United are keen on cashing in on the 30-year-old this summer.

With Football Insider reporting on Tuesday that the former Premier League champions would be willing to accept a fee in the region of £35million, ten Hag’s side are also desperate to get Maguire’s £190,000-a-week salary off their books.

Only featuring in 50% of United’s 62 appearances across all competitions last season, the ex-Sheffield United starlet has also entered the final two years of his current deal at Old Trafford.

However, while Maguire might have stated that he intends to stay put in Manchester, BBC Sport reported last week that West Ham have expressed an interest in striking a potential deal this summer.

With many feeling that the 57-cap international is in desperate need of a fresh start, the Hammers find themselves priced at 7/4 with @ BetUS to make the move to east London over the next six weeks.

Jadon Sancho

While Jadon Sancho might have arrived at Old Trafford two years ago amidst real excitement, the former Borussia Dortmund superstar finds himself in an almost identical position to Maguire.

Making his Premier League return 24 months ago in a deal that was worth £73million, the 23-year-old has largely failed to live up to his bumper price tag and has failed to make much of an impact in the red half of Manchester.

Remarkably not making a single England appearance since way back in October 2021, Sancho has almost exclusively been omitted from Gareth Southgate’s senior squad and wasn’t even on the plane to Qatar over the winter.

Only mustering nine Premier League strikes in his 55 top-flight appearances over the past two seasons, The Mirror reported last week that the Old Trafford hierarchy would be willing to sell the 23-cap international for a cut price fee of £45million.

Watching Alejandro Garnacho burst onto the scene last season, Sancho could find his first-team spot under real pressure.

While it might have been suggested earlier in the month that Aston Villa have identified Sancho as a potential target this summer, talkSPORT are reporting that Tottenham are also keeping tabs on the situation.

With Spurs already welcoming James Maddison to north London in a £40million deal last month, the Lilywhites currently sit priced at 4/1 with Dachbet to snap up another English ace in Sancho before the window slams shut.

Dean Henderson

With Onana expected to have his move to Manchester officially completed by the week, it appears almost certain that Dean Henderson will be heading out of the Old Trafford exit on a permanent move this summer.

Once again failing to dethrone David de Gea as United’s number-one last season, Henderson has made it clear that he is seeking regular first-team action.

Although the ex-Sheffield United shot-stopper will be travelling with ten Hag’s squad for their pre-season tip of the United States this month, it has been suggested that the 26-year-old will be heading back to Nottingham Forest.

Spending a season-long loan spell with Steve Cooper’s side on their Premier League return, The Manchester Evening News reported earlier in the week that Forest have already reached out over a permanent move for the one-cap England international.

The MEN’s report also suggests that Henderson himself expects to be moving back to the City Ground this summer and is ready to cut his pre-season tour of the States short.
