Wolverhampton captain Karl Henry will be out of action for two months with a knee injury.

The midfielder picked up the knock in his club’s 2-1 loss to Blackpool on Saturday, which has left Wolves five points from safety in the English Premier League drop zone.

Manager Mick McCarthy confirmed Henry will not be seen on the pitch again at Molineux until 2011.

“Karl is out for two months with medial knee ligament damage. He’s had a scan and I think there’s a slight tear,” McCarthy said on Monday.

“It’s a huge blow, especially with Dave Edwards out with a thigh strain.”

“Karl’s been great and he’s been an ever-present unless he’s been injured – and the injuries he’s had have been serious, with his knee and damaged spleen. It’s a big loss.”
