There has been much speculation about the future of Brentord forward Yoane Wissa, who has been heavily linked with Newcastle. Feeling the need to make his voice heard as the transfer window approaches its end, the 28-year-old forward has now spoken out publicly, revealing he had been promised to be allowed to leave for “a fair offer” and demanding for the Brentford board to honour their word.
“I have stayed silent for much of the summer, but with just hours remaining of the transfer window I feel compelled make it clear that I want to leave Brentford. I believe the club are unduly standing in my way despite a series of fair offers throughout the summer,” Wissa says.
The DR Congo international also points out that he has conducted himself professionally throughout his four years at Brentford, and that he has nothing but love and respect for the club and the fans. He wouldn’t want to leave on bad terms, but with approval as he seeks to take the next step in his career.
Wissa’s potential transfer to Newcastle would likely open the door or Alexander Isak to finally join Liverpool, after the Magpies signed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart.
