Zambia AFCON hero wanted by Arsenal; Lavezzi happy to stay at Napoli

Zambia AFCON hero wanted by Arsenal

Young Boys striker Emmanuel Mayuka is on the shortlist of several Premier League clubs, his representative has confirmed.

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form for the Swiss side over the last two years, whereas he helped Zambia win the 2012 AFCON title.

The talented forward scored three goals at the final tournament and thus proved his undoubted potential.

Mayuka’s agent has now revealed that his client is wanted by some top clubs from English Premier League.

“There has been interest shown from Arsenal, Newcastle United and Fulham,” James Barrett told talkSPORT.

“Emmanuel wants to play in the Premier League, which he feels is the best in the world, but there is more concrete interest from other European clubs.”

The Zambian international has scored 16 goals in just 25 league starts for Young Boys, whereas he has 10 goals in 34 Zambia caps.

Lavezzi happy to stay at Napoli

Argentine forward Ezequiel Lavezzi has moved to deny speculations linking him with a summer exit from San Paolo.

The 26-year-old is widely expected to leave Napoli for a bigger club in the summer, with several major European clubs interested in his services.

However, the Argentine international claims he is perfectly happy at San Paolo and he wouldn’t mind staying there for another season.

“I believe that I will still be here next season,” Lavezzi told Sky Sport Italia. “I’m happy in Naples, I have a long contract and I’m calm.”

The highly rated forward has three and a half years left on his deal with the Partenopei, with his release clause standing at €31 million.

The fan favourite at San Paolo has been struggling for form this season, scoring 4 goals and creating as many assists in 18 Serie A games.

Bentley interested in MLS move

Tottenham midfielder David Bentley is eager to kick-start his career in the MLS, according to the player’s agent.

The experienced midfielder joined West Ham in the summer in search of first team football, but he returned to White Hart Lane as he underwent a knee surgery in October.

The 27-year-old has been frozen out by boss Harry Redknapp and he is now desperate to leave Spurs.

Several MLS clubs have expressed interest in signing the talented winger, and the player’s agent claims his client is keen on a move across the ocean.

“This is something that is interesting for David, as it will also get him fit,” Rob Segal was quoted as saying in The Sun.

“He would like to go there on loan as soon as possible.”

Bentley joined Tottenham in a big money move from Blackburn, but he failed to prove his worth at White Hart Lane and has failed to play a single game for Spurs since making a loan move to Birmingham a year ago.
