Ivan Zamorano says he will consider succeeding outgoing Herman Levy as president of Colo Colo.
Incumbent Levy plans to step down on April 9 after just one year in the post, having succeeded Guillermo Mackenna in 2011.
Chilean giants Colo Colo have struggled in the past two years, overshadowed by the exploits of Santiago rivals and Copa Sudamericana champions Universidad de Chile.
Zamorano said news of Levy’s impending resignation took him by surprise, but claims he would be open to launching his own presidential bid if approached.
“I would not refuse a meeting, looking from the outside and with experience you can always improve the situation,” Zamorano told Radio Agricultura.
“Colo Colo now need a new restructuring, and if someone comes to me with a long-term project, with the potential to do more, I would sit down to talk.”
“Colo Colo need a total overhaul. When you read that some 60 or 70 players have passed through the club with almost no impact it is because something is not working. Everything needs to be re-evaluated, from the president downwards.”
Zamorano finished his playing career with boyhood club Colo Colo in 2003.
