Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has claimed that it is a coach’s duty to listen to his employer at all times.
Speaking to Udineseblog.it, Zamparini feels that a coach must always take advantage of the experience and expertise that football club owners possess.
“Let us remember one thing – I have been in football for thirty years and I think I understand enough because I always provide my experience and not just money,” Zamparini said.
“That’s why a coach has the duty to listen. We are not idiots, as all the contact we make with the technical area is due to our expertise gained over time.”
Zamparini has become renowned for his ruthless management of Palermo since purchasing the club in 2002, in which time the 70-year-old has gone through a staggering 18 coaches.
The former Venezia owner, however, expressed his happiness with latest protege Devis Mangia, who has guided Palermo into seventh on the Serie A table.
“Mangia is young, smart and knows precisely why he must listen to my advice,” Zamparini said.
Palermo travel to meet Udinese at Stadio Friuli on Sunday.
