ESPN FC senior writer Mark Ogden claims there is a rumour going around football circles in Manchester that United manager Jose Mourinho plans to bring back Zlatan Ibrahimović to Old Trafford.
According to Ogden’s report, Zlatan’s on-pitch job would be to help the struggling duo of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez as much as he can with goals, but the 37-year-old Swede would be expected to make a bigger impact in the dressing-room. It’s believed that the troubles that currently besiege the atmosphere inside the team began when Zlatan left, and that that’s not a coincidence. During his 18-month stint at Old Trafford, all players, young and older alike, regarded the former Barcelona, Juventus, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain striker as a leader.
Having returned ahead of schedule from a cruciate ligament injury, Ibrahimović scored just once in seven appearances for United, but he managed to net 21 times in 25 games for LA Galaxy since then.
