Abidal at risk of leaving Barca

The agent of Eric Abidal has revealed his client would like to end his playing career at Barcelona.

But the France international could decide to leave the Spanish club if an agreement regarding a new contract is not reached soon.

Abidal’s current deal runs out at the end of the season and he has yet to commit his future to the club.

Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be closely monitoring the situation of the 32-year-old, who has been at Barca since 2007.

“We have very good relations with Barcelona, but we have not yet found the solution to extend the contract,” agent David Venditelli told COM Radio.

“The truth is that, as time goes by, the risk of Abidal leaving Barcelona next year gets higher.”

The agent stressed, however, that Abidal is keen on finishing his playing career at Camp Nou and suggested that the next meeting between the two parties could end the impasse.

“There are two issues to address: the length of the contract and the salary,” Venditelli added.

“There will be a new meeting in December. Abidal wants to stay at Barca, he wants to retire here. That is his wish.”
