Aguero pens Man City extension

Manchester City have confirmed that striker Sergio Aguero has extended his deal with the club until 2017.

The Argentine forward has been linked with a move to Real Madrid following a season in which he has struggled to find consistent form, netting only 17 goals in all competitions compared to the 29 he hit in 2011-12.

However, Aguero has now quashed the speculation, signing a one-year-extension to his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
The former Atletico Madrid man joined the deposed Premier League champions in 2011, and scored the winning goal against QPR in the last minute of injury-time to snatch the league crown from Manchester United on the final day of the 2011-12 campaign.
City fell short in their attempts to retain the title, as they finished 11 points behind Manchester United, and could not secure any meaningful silverware after finishing bottom of their UEFA Champions League group and losing the FA Cup final to Wigan, a defeat which spelled the end of Roberto Mancini’s tenure at the club.
Those disappointments have evidently not quelled Aguero’s desire to achieve further glory with City, with the 24-year-old recently insisting he is delighted with life in Manchester.
I’m very happy at City and I feel very appreciated. It’s been barely two years since I’ve arrived and sometimes I feel like I’ve been here for all my life,” he said.

“I have a fantastic relationship with the fans, and that always reminds me of our title and that goal against QPR. I can never forget that moment.

“Now I am looking forward to next season and pushing hard to win the title again.”
Aguero is the fourth City player to commit his future to the club in the past few months, with Yaya Toure, David Silva and Gael Clichy all penning new deals.
