Allegri leaves decision over future to Milan

SoccerNews in Serie A 10 Nov 2013

Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri says the decision over his future at the club is out of his hands.

Allegri was speaking after his side’s 0-0 draw at Serie A’s bottom club Chievo on Sunday, a result that means Milan are without a win in six matches in all competitions.

The draw also brought to an end Milan’s run of 14 consecutive victories over their opponents, with Allegri’s team currently 10th in the table having won just three of their opening 12 league games.

Speculation is rife that Allegri’s tenure at San Siro may be coming to an end but, after the match, the Italian said it was up to the club to decide on his future.

“I am the coach of the Milan,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“So if the club thinks this team needs another coach then they’ll let me know. I look at what happens on the field.”

Despite Sunday’s disappointing result, Allegri insisted he was pleased with the way his side played.

“It was a good performance,” he added.

“The lads played well, created a great deal and didn’t allow many chances, which wasn’t easy.

“We had Wednesday’s game (the 3-1 UEFA Champions League defeat in Barcelona) in our legs and a situation that was difficult, but I could not have asked for more from my players.

“We needed to score, we didn’t score, but if we had then the view of the overall performance would’ve changed.

“The lads created several scoring opportunities against a Chievo side that was clammed up into its own half, so I could not have expected more.

“When everyone gives their all, you cannot ask for more in terms of effort.”
