(GSM) – Malawi national coach Kinnah Phiri has launched an attack on the Angolan FA.

Phiri claims that the host nation of the Africa Cup of Nations prevented them from preparing for their second group match against Angola (2-0 loss) in a suitable way.

“We find it strange that in such a competition, a team cannot train for two days,” Phiri told Reuters news agency.

“This disappoints us a lot, because we feel that the Angolan FA deliberately worked it so that Angola are in the quarter-finals.

“Three times we went onto a pitch (to train) but we found that there were others there. They were asked to leave but they refused. We have not trained for two days.”

Malawi are second in the group. A victory against Mali would be enough to deposit them into the last eight.
